Celebrating a new author, Rita Young

Some of you know by now that Living Waters is a very outside of the box publisher when it comes to giving opportunities to unknown authors. We had an opportunity to be a blessing to one such author: 64 year old Rita Young from Oklahoma. Here's a bit of an email we received from her recently:

"Some people do not know what it feels like to chase a dream for years and years unsuccessfully. For some, it is easier than for others. I was one of the others. I've dreamed of writing my whole lifelong. My papa used to say my stories were really good. I thought it would be easy. I've had stories read at church. I'd written plays for the children. But no publisher wanted me at all. You don't know what it means to me that you would take me at this point of my life when I've been diagnosed with tumors and cancer. I thought I would die without seeing my dream fulfilled. After I read about Mark Miller and his testimony, I had peace in my heart to try once more. When I received that contract and the advance, I cried. I sobbed! I got the paper all wet and had to dry it with my hair dryer. But my heart was overjoyed at the goodness of Jesus. What's more is that the advance was enough to pay for the medicines I'd ran out of and all my bills which were behind.

I know what God can do. He never fails. He never quits. He is faithful and true and always sticks to his word. You know, I've prayed for this company since I first ran across it. I'd seen some negative things about it. But, you stand for righteousness. You stand for God and people will always try to knock you right on down. Keep right on standing anyway. This is the will of God!"

Rita you came upon a great company. In my own experiences, it is a business that prays. I follow Lacresha's ministry pretty closely and her husband is a pastor. So reading this did not shock me at all. Don't you dare think you're about to die. You have more stuff to do for God and I don't even know you personally, hon. I just know that our daddy is a GREAT daddy.

Thanks for posting my email. I want to start a weblog but don't really know what I should do to start it. I ask that all the authors pray for me. Thanks LMH.
I appreciate what you said. I believe God will bless us. We are in the right place at the right time.
